As I leaf through the pages Of my album of days gone by And see faces that are gone now I can’t help wonder why They had to die and leave me And I heave a gentle sigh As I lean back in my chair And turn to God and ask him why? Why Lord did you call them And take them from my side One by one you summoned them I was distraught the day they died I can’t help wonder why You needed them more than I. And I cling to your promise That we’ll be united bye and bye.
