Press One For English
Oh - I'll press 1 for English but I cringe every time They ought to be speaking good English like mine Old Davy Crockett fought the Mexican rabble So we wouldn't have to put up with that Spanish babble We pushed all the Spaniards back south of the border So this country could get its self back to some order We even built fences to keep them all out So what's all this "press 1 for English" thing all about Old "Duke" - he's American all through and through When asked to "press 1" I ask what would Duke do But I know it's not up to old Duke or me In this day and age we must all be PC So I'll press 1 for English but cringe every time They ought to be speaking good English like mine! Mdailey 11/21/07 I received a picture of John Wayne with the caption – “Now just why in the Hell do I have to press 1 for English. This touched off a poem that led to its translation to both Spanish for our southern border and French for the Northern border. I posted this following the discovery of another poem on PS under the same title.
