Brick Whack In Dark Night
Brick Whack in Dark Night I woke up from my sleep with sudden shot, And instantly forgot my dreams to tell, Unconsciously my hand reached out for cell It knew where I had put it, ere I fell Into that June night sleep, too, too much hot To fall asleep. However, it could not Take hold of it. Quite desperate I got Up in my bed, and searched for hand fan. Well! I could not get it either. Oh, what Hell! I simply sat down at the edge of cot And felt the sweat-drops trickling at my back, And looked around in echoing dark, dark lot. It was quite dark and silent night. I think I had not seen more silent, darker night With gasp of silence all around up right I tried to find some fissure, crevice, chink Of outside light but could not. O alack! I could not get the reason of that whack.
