Wind and the Speck of Dust
The wind once took fancy on a speck of dust Her joy knew no bounds when she discovered her luck She twirled and she danced at the wind’s will He carried her along over vales and hill When he raged all bowed before him He razed to the ground those who confronted him The speck of dust saw his different forms Missed the gentle touch with which he had lifted her from the ground The little speck of dust lived in constant fear She ceased to recognise her once gentle wind dear The fear of being abandoned clawed at her soul Though she danced to his whims his eyes were fixed on greater goals When quiet, she would settle down on the ground She knew the quiet was a farce a forerunner of greater fury and sound She found herself being lost among the things he gathered in his course Her sorrow knew no bounds and tears flowed out in full force Her heart grew heavy drenched in her tears Stranded she was on the ground for even the wind could not lift her The wind being the wind had to blow for it was his nature The speck of dust was left alone devoid of happiness and cheer. sharmila menon
