A Summer Break
To keep up with a busy day, Breaks are really a necessity, Enjoying the glory of life I’d say, Is most important to me. Stepping out on the porch to feel, God’s beauty that surrounds, With everything that is real, And natures beautiful sounds. With a soft, gentle breeze, As an occasional wind blows, Birds gathering in the trees, As the setting Sun glows. Chirping of birds and a buzzing bee, A passing plane in the sky, Children laughing so joyfully, From a park that’s close by. The barking of dogs far away, A few still mowing their lawn, Ending another summer day, Preparing for the next break of dawn. The timer stops, resting is through, I’m so refreshed from this break, And ready to do all there is to do, Just waiting for the next break to take. Florence McMillian (Flo)
