By the Roadside
I feel the wind in my hair, the sweat on my back, and the cool vibration under my cupped hands. The warmth of your arm on my shoulder, waves of love passing through. The blue sky, The sun so bright and hot, and the radio playing that ,oh, familiar tune. Destination, no where; determination, nothing. Yet, I am compelled to stop right here. There is a little pull off, and along side there are 5 flowered crosses. A little sign that says, "tragedy happened here, they are gone but not forgotten; they are in heaven, but deeply missed." Tears fill my eye's Why is death so cruel I can imagine the horiible scene I can feel their families pain I can sense their presence near And depict the sad imagery Merciless are the weak Brave are the strong Five souls lost in youth Left in time Wondering, WHY? A chill shakes my spine And I see them hand in hand They know I am here And slowly they reach out to me Feeding off my sensitive spiritual awareness Their cries fill my ear's, PLEASE SET US FREE.
