Four kids in the back seat of ’57 Chevy riding with windows down, air hot and heavy. Nine hundred plus miles braving hot summer sun eating up asphalt until another day was done. No money in our pocket except for some change, traveled nonstop over mountain to coastal range. With four kids and one on the way we pushed on, to a town near Gulf Shores where sand was our lawn.
