Wedding Ballet
A gown of white, her step is light, she's laughing all the while He dips her low, and then she twirls, like dancing long ago The young and old are dancing close, the bond they have, sublime A camera rolls, to catch the show, as if to capture time I watch them spin across the floor,….and cannot help but smile I have viewed this scene, again, again, so many times before Sweet recollections waltz once more, across the midnight door Still, each time I watch the show, new tears well up and sting And blur the joyful glide I see, upon the wedding floor Traces of childhood, are there within in her face, He’s thin and pale, the patriarch, yet brimming wide with love Do you see he teases her, the same it always was? Who knew how frail and ill he was, how soon the end would come? One would never know to watch….their footsteps matched in rhyme Her life was changing ever so, and his was losing time A grandfather, this precious girl, how sweet a day was this The dance goes on and on…a sweet ballet lives on …beyond the climb ______________________________________________ For the Contest: Partriarchy Sponsored by Thomas Martin
