What You See Is Not Always What You See
Sitting alone in a bar one night I watched A man leaving stumble as he reached the door Unbalanced, he slipped and fell to the floor Dead drunk, sobbing, plainly aching and worn The male drinkers grinned and saw comedy Women drinkers frowned and saw stupidity I eyed the mishap with sympathy and clarity Perceiving misery, giving support with objectivity We all harbor internal traits some would deny exist Not discussed or admitted that we try to resist But a Third Eye is a gift that should be treasured Its value cannot be scientifically measured It’s intrinsic worth is that it seeks and finds truth The Eye rejects easy answers, it looks for proof Of the source that triggers commonplace incidents Effectively evading the façade framing human events A Third Eye doesn’t see the future, it cannot predict It’s a precious tool absent threat or conflict A gift bestowed by a nameless, mystifying entity What you see is not always what you see.
