Silently Suffering
Don't say a word, don't utter a sound, let's not upset the peace they have found. Tears you cry, pain you feel, can't let them see, somehow you'll deal. Put on a smile tell a great joke, all while inside you're starting to choke. Can't make them angry, won't let them see just how much torment is building inside of me. Show them you love them, give what they want, forever inside, fear and guilt will haunt. Hide all your anguish, show all your joys all for the happiness of your wonderful boys. Someday you'll tell them, one day they will know. The tears locked inside you like a river will flow. Silently suffering, showing no pain, holding your chin up, grown men you will gain. Quietly crying, watching them thrive, they're grown, they're safe, you've kept them alive.
