Scales
If you think there is nothing larger than the sky That enfolds seas and hills Take a look into my eye Where all their contents spills And I am larger than my sight It's but an organ of my soul And plays its music to the light Dripping from the sunrise gold Why then you explore the moon Leaching white her dusty breast Man is the paradox, the spoon And His creation's nobliest The sun goes down the image dies A wind made ragged on a plain A sight at which the living sighs The solemn emptiness of pain A cup of water filled the room with steam And larger than its origin Measures me out in dream For once condensed by sin And rolled into a liquid ball I poised upon a point of leaf And here pondering my fall I shiver with a sense of grief Nay, a dull and leaden pall I felt not beyond light's brim Before the bell's pregnant call Before in me a dust did swim As if I was the universe of all You need so much star to make The dust, so I could not crawl Until a worm the leaf did shake
