Regret
there is no warmth left in my beloved night only a creeping cold a cursed blight the darkness comes and prowls and shadows come to me, the coward the regrets the pain I seek to hold them off but I hear them, dark wolves bay shirking and shrieking, far too oft the lonesome ache, so deep in breast comes at night, a dread confessed the honor and glory of once I dreamt fade away to a corner till morn the reality to commence the wailing of the soul, so forlorn I hold the despair at bay by day and night does bring it, fresh and fey what can end the dreams, the hopes who can make it disappear what can make whole this lame antelope who can bring an end to fear Bedlam reigns and holds sway My madness of regret goes not away For a time I lived so happy so free I held to the peace, for a brief spell I fooled myself, doubted this seed Now it's gone, and here is hell It was not perfect, not even close But it was peace, loneliness at post Now the dreams come again To haunt Adam, his Original Sin
