Innocence Lost
/ He stands on his corner of the street Born to a life full of lies Somehow he manages no sign of defeat The city sees another dark face, no trace of the child inside Leaving his country to sell what he could Providing for his family, his beautiful soul shines bright Invisible. He stands on the corner of his street Watching the world pass by She is seen as weak working her corner of the street Just another forgotten soul She watches the world pass by Making money the only way she knows how Staring at oblivion, hating the laughter nearby She just wants to survive and provide Born into a life of deceit Unnoticed for years He stands on the corner of the street Once full of potential, now forgotten by history Haunted by memories of black body bags Selling his metals for a fix His wants to survive and provide Broken body on the side of the street They stand on every corner just trying to last the day They are the forgotten They refuse to die in defeat Innocence lost They are never truly nameless But though their names are never known They are the faces, they are the stale breath, they are the misspelled street sign, the blood shot eyes, they are the skirt that’s too short but we never really see them… Their hopes and dreams will now remain with them on the corners of their streets /
