Encounter (Angels Unawares)
Just a down a out drifter there sitting on side of the road. You held a sign, "I'm hungry, please help" you seemed to shake with cold. Some passed by giving coins. Some gave no second thought. I wondered were you there holding that sign all for naught? I walked over and said to you, "Sir, money I do not have. But I have food at home and with you I'd love to share." Smiling, you said, "Thanks." You held out your hand, so I helped you up. I asked, "How much money do you have there in that cup?" "I've been out here all day, and I'm ashamed to say that people can be selfish; this is all that they gave today." "Two dollars! Is that all?" You seemed sad and blue "Don't worry sir," I said "I'll take good care of you." You called my name, "Jarid, you realize what you do? Someone up in heaven is now smiling upon you." I stopped in my tracks. Now how about that! "How do you know my name?" You replied, "Please don't ask." "Sir," I said "somehow you seem to know something of me. So I'll tell you about myself, then tell me about thee" "All my life I try giving. I do the best that I can; but people take advantage of that, sir, I am just one man." You replied, "The one who's always taking cannot seem to give. Keep on giving son, eternal life you shall live." "Sir," I replied "you speak such beautiful words of love." In response you said, " Well, Jarid, I am sent from up above." I giggled saying, "Well hmmm sir, that's a maybe." But all the while I'm thinking that this man must be crazy. Arriving at home, you mumbled, "I was a stranger and you took me in." I replied, "That's in the bible...the book of Matthew I believe it's in." I gave you your plate and gave thanks to Yahweh. "And please bless this stranger that I brought to my house today." I opened my eyes from prayer and behold, you were all but gone! I was now wondering what was really going on? I saw a note on the table saying, "Your sins are all forgiven. You have been faithful, and in love you've made your decision." Then it all hit me that this man knew my name. Now I am wondering is it I who's gone insane?" It began to make sense to me. No wonder his name he never told. He wasn't a beggar at all! I just entertained an angel! "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares" (Hebrews.13:2).
