I pulled the sheets up closer Right up over my head; Perhaps these dark shadows Would soon leave my bed. But then, a door creaked open Ever so slightly ajar. What on earth could it be? Was it really near, or afar? Suddenly, something landed With a thud onto the quilt I froze in sheer horror, And my heart began to wilt.
