The Valley
I will lift up my eyes unto the hills from where my help comes. Psalms 121 Today a shadow crossed my path and I entered a valley deep. A dark cloud blotted out the sun as I began to weep, Feeling lost and all alone, a pilgrim plying in a foreign field, Struggling onward with my load, at last my soul to yield. Demons of depression shrouded my joyful countenance, Wallowing in self pity because of dire circumstance. I had but to lift my head for the sunshine to return, Look unto the distant hills for which my soul does yearn. My heart has been shattered and I care not to tarry here, Consolation not forthcoming from earthly means, I fear. The only solance for my despairing soul must come From heaven’s King of Glory and His Holy Son. For the hope of salvation, I must lift my eyes to see Yonder hills of glory that are beckoning to me. A mighty wind has risen in the valley where I walked. Jesus whispers softly, “My child, let’s have a talk.” To Him I go willingly, into his waiting arms I step. Cast my cares upon Him, from Him will come my help, “Savior, Oh my Savior, this pain, I can’t withstand In this valley I am walking, I have need of Your hand.” “My child,” He said, “I have been with you all along. I am always here to carry you when you are not strong. Put your faith in My Father and let go of the stone. With His loving guidance, you will never be alone.”
