We the People
We the people . . . Have lost sight of the values on which this great nation was founded. We the people . l. . Have allowed our representatives to forget the principles which made us a great country. We the people . . . Have too often complained, but not had the courage to take the time necessary to voice them by voting our conscience. We the people . . . Have forgotten that our duty as citizens is to make this country our again, by overcoming our complacency. We the people . . . Have signed blank checks that our governmental bodies write that are theirs because our sweat makes them possible. We the people . . . Have for too long given our tacit approval to the lobbyists who coerce our representatives for their own purposes. We the people . . . Have dug a hole in the sand that is so deep, the generations that follow may never be able to fill. We the people . . . Have painted ourselves into a corner with slow drying paint. We the people . . . Have the ability to change all of these things, but we must first be good citizens by standing up to the business of politics. We the people . . . Have a right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness without our governmental neighbor peering over our individual fences. We the people . . . Have these things in sight and within our grasp, but we do not reach for them. We the people . . . Have a Constitution that says these things to the world in words greater than these, and we must not let our leadership be without Statesmen who will look after our interests, instead of their own.
