The Ticking Clock
Time keeps ticking away. There's so much to do today. I have all the usual stuff, Much of which I do in a huff. Then comes the daily routine. I do so much to get it all clean. I look at the clock. More time's ticked away. I begin to become worried about the day. Questions that were obsolete Now return to my mind and repeat. Am I living in the proper way? Or is this just an image I display? Am I a friend who is true? Do I do all that I've promised to do? Or do I just allow these things to pass, Like a person who has no class? As I look in the mirror, I begin to think, There are many times I wish I'd just shrink. I feel so guilty. I've wasted so much time, Even now as I write this rhyme. I am then reminded of what others said. I consider some of the books I've read. They say everything is for a reason. They remind me everything has its season. Just as the flower blooms after the rain, I, too, can live even after the pain. So I need not fear the ticking clock any longer, For inwardly I've become a whole lot stronger.
