The Truth That's Hid
The truth that's hid behind the face Is like the mouse a cat does chase. Sometimes it seems to be so near, But they're the times that I most fear. Other times it is far away. That's the way I wish it'd stay. The bit I grasp I toss around. The whole truth is yet to be found. The little bit I do recall Is like the mouse's voice, so small. It's desperate as it calls for help, But is barely heard as a little yelp. Around in circles I feel I go, As I search for memories I do not know. Just as the mouse cries with a screech, I, too, cry with the enemy's reach. As the night passes, the game goes on. The mouse has yet to be caught by dawn. This is what I feel about my life, Even as I try not to focus on strife. In the end I hope to be like the cat, As it catches the tiny, little rat. I hope to overcome my fears And live many happy years.
