Last Hit
The last time I seen you, you were covered in sweat, There were scars in your arms where the needles were pressed. It was a strain to my eyes what I witnessed and had seen, To where you are now, coming from where you used to be. Now you are a statistic, as I move on in time, There are so many great memories of us tattooed in my mind. Well that last hit had taken it all. The addiction had such a grip on you. You refused our help; we had to watch you fall. There was nothing else we could do. We tried the intervention when we were all called. Boy did you have us fooled. The last hit you had was when you hit the wall. The last hit took it all. Then they found you on your apartment floor, All the furniture was sold off and gone. You lost it all looking to relive that first perfect score. When we never heard from you we knew something was wrong. That’s when I seen you had lost all your teeth, You were a wreck right down to the bone. We still tried to help, your heart still had a beat. Now here we are and only silence can be found. Your home in a way we never wanted it to be, As we softly lay your body in the ground. Now you’re not addicted and your soul is finally free. That last hit brought you down.
