Big Grey
Big Grey was my favorite cat of all time. He came with no grand pedigree. He didn't need that for that wonderful cat Had enormous affection for me. He was but a stray who somehow found his way To this home he'd be welcomed to stay. He made himself king and ruled everything And forgot he was ever a stray. There were other cats here whom he treated as mere Common things to be kept in their places. But my lap was his own, which he quickly made known To the others, not one of their spaces. That beautiful cat, always there when I sat, His front legs round my neck he'd entwine. And he'd stare in my face, 'til I needed my space And I shooed down that sweet pet of mine. He'd never more roam for this was his home Where he'd be contented for life. It was easy to see he belonged here with me, Away from the stress and the strife. I was caught unaware, finding him lying there Unable to answer my call. I couldn't believe he was going to leave, This dear cat whom I loved most of all. Now that he's gone I know he has gone on To the place where good kitties should be. May he find up above an angel to love, Just as much as he used to love me. wpm hm
