The Past and Today
Replacing you is like replacing my limbs It would cost my whole life; to you a fortune The price put on us is more than important To me and I don't need to struggle anymore Still can't understand why you were so patient with me for Time after time, I was too proud to beg Not for you; no studder in what you've done or said On and off, up and down, jumping from actors to clowns Meaningless feuds, ignorance, silence in my sounds Never gave a care about the scum I'd try to use In your place for just a while 'til my thoughts regrouped Each time I'd leave your door Your face would ring my mind and make me wonder what I'd do it for Them other boys could never take your place And I remember being silenced each time I'd look him in the face Without you I'd cry, sometimes I would even laugh I'd never call them "baby" back 'Cause they never were mine; just the same I'd still much rather call your name In and out, out and about, side by side all over again Me and you, you and I; I'd never trade you for them Never gave a care about the scum I'd try to use In your place for just a while 'til my thoughts regrouped Those others, well of course they tried to hurt me Been lied to, been held out, mentally forced not to see Very well aware that you've been through this, too Same time, same things between me and you Never took all my clothes off with them Halfway each time, 'cause he'd see your name Tattooed on my back to avoid the wondering of whose I truly was Few times he'd ask, "Why?" and my reply was, "Just because" Back in place, where we should have stayed since then Laid a hand, hurtful words; towards me you've never used against We've grown back into the same old us From the beginning when we made no fuss
