A Christmas Cry
The vacant room dark and dim, though holiday dressed no joy within. Haunted by black, the ribbons and bows perch as sullen, neglected shadows. In the corner, the tree oh so grim, no hope or purpose reflected therein. The mantel and hearth, quiet and cold, no warm comfort as in times old. Will darkness swallow this fit lair and quiet drown joyful sounds in the air? That this should be, tis’ shame to say, for it is Christmas..Jesus birthday. But wait! What noise now I here? As the seasons carols fall on my ear. Suddenly, a troop throngs the door singing and laughing, excitement galore! And now a flicker, a candle, a light! Christmas victory defeats the night! The now crowded room bright and clear is holiday dressed, Joy is here! Alive with vibrancy, each ribbon and bow compliment the holiday glow. Christmas tree corner? Anything but grim, bursting hope and purpose again. Tongues of flame lick the firebox wall, sharing light and warmth with all And so, to vacant hearts dim and dark, open your door to the Christmas spark!
