Winter
The air is turning bitter cold, the sky a darkened gray. Trees are now devoid of leaves, the wind's blown them away. Soon the flakes of snow will fall, landscape turning white. Look across the field, see the deer, my eyes beheld the sight. Church bells ring, the yule tide in, the holidays are near. Thanksgiving turkey, now long gone, Christmas ham will soon be here. Midnight now moments away, champagne glasses ring. The ball will drop, lips are kissed, auld lang syne, we will sing. Mid winter blues are setting in, to cold to go out tonight, Break out the cards and monopoly, beside the firelight. I heard the snowplows in the night, clearing off the road. Piles so high at the end of the street, where's the sidewalk? no-one knows. Spring arrives with rain and sun, the days are getting longer. I see the budding on the trees, I'm even feeling stronger. The Maples and the Sycamores, are now fully in bloom. blades of grass growing well, released from their icy tomb. I think I'll take a walk today, take in some wondrous sights. I'll think about the winter, and all those freezing nights. Having just moved back up North from 32 years in Florida, Snow was let me say not a pretty sight, Until I walked in the fresh snowfall. Then the real beauty came out. I found the soup and a Poetry home.
