Star Gazer
These three magic rocks, I hold tight in my hand Rolling them over, now, what could I plan? Leave my reality? A new opportunity? How should I use them? The power they hold... Can they take me away, as I have been told To magical places, ...to far-away lands?.. But oh the dilemma, how can I choose? A place where I could leave all my worries behind? As I stood there and pondered, under a star filled sky Searching my heart, to find peace of mind One star caught my eye, as it dangled so bright... And I knew.... I must visit the heavens tonight! Closing my eyes, I made a wish on the stones In a gust of wind, I was no longer alone Suddenly appeared was a heavenly tree Up through the branches were stair steps for me! I climbed up the limbs, as it reached for the sky I climbed and clung, as I climbed up so high.. Below the horizon stretched and grew Till the earth swung free in a tide of blue Weary and stiff, but fiercely proud I swung at last to a ledge of a cloud I sat and I looked at the earth that I know Then realized the troubles that live down below When I'd rested enough from my head to crown I left my soft loft and I climbed the tree down I see things much clearer, from up high in the air I'm now super-hero who followed a star In my pocket, the rocks that used to be there Remind me that children need more than a tear To look to the sky when their world seems unfair If their worries come back and a nightmare is there I'll quickly escort them up heavenly stairs.... ____________________________________________________________ Super-Hero Contest
