My Moon
As I look in the night sky I see the moonlight streaming down But it hasn't always been this way. Moonlight, you left me And you took a part of me with you That I never knew I had. That part was love. I had my heart set around you Until you left. You left my world dark. When night came, the shadows closed around me Because my moonlight was gone. When you left me, High and dry, I forgot how to love, And learned more and more how to hate. But one fine day, You chose to come back. After what seemed to be forever, But in reality was only a month or so, You returned. It lasted a week. You, my moonlight, kept me safe For only a week. But now I guess it's time For you to go. You don't have to leave on your own anymore Because I'm kicking you out. Filling me with false anxiety. But will my world be forever darkened? Will I ever be able to replace you...completely? My moon... My lost moon... You've taken a part of me And I want it back! I want to love again! And nothing you do -Not the tricks you try to pull- Can stop me. My old, worn, ungrateful moon.
