Ballade of Battlefronts of Mahabharata
Where are those battle-braves essayed By epic, Where their triumph go? Where, the rare braveries portrayed, Where did the blood that was shed flow? Villain Duryodhan’s wrath-wrapped woe, Dhritarashtra’s nerves, anger, gall The battles as raged as we know, Time consumes all things once for all. Where’s gut and gumption fresh and frayed, Plumes and armours of friend and foe, The shells and shields, golden brocade, And breastplates taking all the blow, Pomp and pride, splendour on the show, Yells of duels won— big and small, Youth burning bright with graying glow, Time consumes all things once for all. When curtain falls at dusk, grows dread, Wounded treated with worried brow, And when words for welfare are said, Hard say, who stands tall, who on toe, The high of now soon gets nigh low, In clash of swords where’s festival? Yet, maps are made for the morrow, Which all time consumes once for all. Envoi Krishna’s care, Arjun’s worried brow, Fall when heroes who’s small, who’s tall? Dust settling down, clear ‘tis to know, Time consumes all things once for all. ______________________________________ Ballade |09.04.2024|war, time
