MAID OF ORLEANS-Legend Poetry Contest
“There is no question that the hero or heroin will take the quest, for he or she was born with the pathway etched in their soul.” (quote by the poet) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From the rural fields of Domrémy, a warrior saint arose, A radiant maiden dubbed Joan, adorned in rustic clothes. Not of noble blood, but of humble origin, Of her faith there was no comparison. She heard celestial voices, stirring her soul, Urging her onward, towards a spiritually lofty goal. Armed with their messages, she took up the cause, To reclaim her land from invaders’ claws. Mounted on horseback, brandishing a sword, Clad in armor, she led armies to victory, in the name of the Lord. From a simple shepherdess to a warrior so bold, Joan’s tale of courage, through ages retold. Through the fire of battle, she emerged unscathed, Her banner of courage, high and waved. Yet, by the flames of treachery, she met her end, But her light, oh, it refused to bend. In the court of men, a woman stood alone, Joan of Arc, her resolve as firm as stone. Accused and betrayed, yet her spirit didn’t wane, In the face of adversity, she remained an unyielding flame. Bound to the stake, her body consumed by fire, Yet her essence, her spirit, could never tire. Martyred, canonized, her spirit continues to enchant, St. Joan of Arc, the warrior saint, forever radiant.
