Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required Sitting on the shore before a peaceful sea Watching as the waves come rolling in Reflecting upon the memories of the life that I have lived And the chance for a new life to begin It’s not that I’m unhappy but instead found unfulfilled Living a life restricted by the walls in which I’m held I’ve done far more than what’s reasonable … in service to this day So now I’ll drop the baggage that I’ve carried along the way I’ll stand and walk a path leaving only my footprints in the sand From this day forward I’ll carry only my own weight The years that I’ve labored have left too many scars The heartache of my pain has grown too great I know some wish to use me as the pack mule of their dreams And ride my back until my bones are ground to dust But there’s something that they’ve never known or taken time to think about For now it’s time I live the life I must I have hopes and dreams which live within my heart So I find joy on this shoreline where my new life is to start From here I say goodbye to them and to all of their demands No longer held in servitude to their selfish plans I walk away a free man no longer held by confining walls Abiding by the rules they’ve made and bowing to their cause The person you remember no longer lives within this shell I’ve unlocked the cage that held me and walked free from that hell.
