Porch Lights
Lying down on a bed. Is horrifying. Thoughts, become dreams, but I’m awake! I’m awake! It’s not a dream! It’s not a dream! I’m sobbing, and you can cry in a dream, but sobbing is not possible. The tears, I can feel them vaporizing… But really, it’s just my claws on my face. So I’m focusing on my face right? But now my legs are being neglected. My legs need my thoughts… Or else they are feeling strangled. It’s just blankets- Get these blankets off! It’s the only way I’ll sleep- no blankets. Stepping outside, Away from my bed, beds are like prisons. On my porch, it’s night and there’s no one. Just a comforting porch light. I start to unfurl, Onto the pavement. Which is harsh, but comfortable. All I have to do is set an alarm in my head. So I can wake up before they come for me… The weirdos who jog early in the morning. And that’s how we get to sleep.
