Dingle's Dog
Harry Dingle had a dog He took him everywhere They lived near a swampy bog That cast a stench in the air He hunted in the morning His dog always by his side One day without warning He was taken for a ride Sheriff Cain who resided Just half a mile away His greedy heart decided That Dingle couldn't stay Little did Harry know His land was rich with oil So with his dog in tow Was buried neath the soil The sheriff now the owner And all the wealth he could crave Harry's dog like a loner Just sat beside his grave Then a couple months later With a chance to taunt him His spirit as a gator Returned just to haunt him Sheriff Cain was soon to find This ghost he couldn't battle With vengeance on his mind Killed and ate all his cattle Soon Cain would taste defeat Harry finally was the winner For revenge to be complete Had the sheriff for his dinner To give everyone a scare His bones draped across a log Now the only one still there Is Harry Dingle's dog
