Students
Students As I sit here contemplating All those little faces And look at their expressions I wonder where their place is I wonder how their life’s have been I wonder if they’re cared for And what they have seen If their dreams will ever soar Even though I don’t know them, How I think their parents would I wonder if their parents show them How much they are loved, they should On some of them you can see In their little puppy eyes The sadness that they bring from home And I hope that there they’d find happiness I want to reach out and embrace them Till they feel the empathy I feel But I know it’s only temporary For at home is where they have to deal To deal with life as they know it To try to survive another day To deal with the blows and the yelling of it And hoping that, someday, it will go away So they grow up and the cycle starts To deal with their own, best they can Finally they realize their parents weren’t at fault It’s societies pressures that parent’s can’t stand By: Nena Enriquez
