May I please be the one to speak? Would you take the time to listen? I’m tired of this pretend serenity That leads me only into bustle… I think it’s time for us to part, For now. For good. Forever. You can always borrow my heart And lock it in your suitcase Or wear it as jewelry if you like. Yes, you can take my heart… But all this love, I cannot Keep giving it away. For it will end within you And within me… You may want me, But not what I’m going through… This endless volley Of regret And painful memories. Please just look away. Your eyes are drenched in dislike. They sore. They hurt. They burn. They carve throughout my raw flesh And poison deep down in my veins. You run inside my vessels In this preposterous Race that always leads to the same finish: My broken and irreplaceable self. We always talk, but never speak. You always look, but do not see. You always listen, but do not hear This forsaken beat of mine. © 2009 Stefania Carmen Misaila
