Act of Love
Act of Love John, joined other urchins; ran away from home He was eight years, his mother died Father, alcoholic, abused his only son: Physically assaulted little John. Uncontrolled fear gripped him He did what he thought was best; Ran away: on the streets he lived Begging for food, searching safe rest. Then one day, begging at a car Saw a lady with pipes Using a machine to breathe Oxygen to stay alive. Tears moistened his sad eyes Dipping into his pocket Offered her his paltry prize. This was much for his day; A little help for Gladys then, This would turn into a blessing As the story unfolds events. She thanked him, held tight his hand He didn’t know her plight: Abused by her husband Nearly losing her sight. Alcoholic habit: to violence he’d resort Causing damage to her lung Since then she has been distrait Waiting for the setting sun. Gladys had reconciled not to live for long. She told the boy her story He felt much was she wronged. This touching scene of John’s act Was filmed by a witness there Posting this touching story On social media everywhere. Donations poured in For Gladys’ treatment, costing high Thus, able to fly to India To be healed of breath and sight. John was not forgotten Nissy Wambugn opened her heart and home To his generous lad Who, till then lived alone, Gladys was medically treated, John gifted home and kin A little act of kindness Friends and loved ones can win. Stretch your hand out in little ways To people you may not know, A blessing from above Like a volcano, blessed will flow.
