The Door
Do you ever stand in your place And consider and stare At a door ... wondering what its doing there? How light can enter a leaf and leave A little bone of energy there To grow and grow bigger than it all began? And all our senses as little doors Sweep up the dust and lust in all of us These tenants that rage from within The imperceptible entrance of sin Do you ever wonder why The senses let them in? For me, I come to it like Alladin Testing magic words That my children may let me in Filtered through the clamor and glamor of lies They my walking cane, and I their eyes But cannot remember the combination To the rigid lock. And ever and ever you stand there Perpetually the perpetuating knock And I who come to you always bare Wonder why ... when my door is open Do you knock and knock I did not ever buy a lock While time is here barrier to heaven You the way ... to the open door You the door ... into life When a door confronts the door How do I enter into life The mirage has walls that pin my wings And lock me into perpetual questionings.
