Late-Nite Picture Show
In a dark and desolate room, on you my mind lingers. I caught the scent of smoke, and I immediately saw you. The gentle curve of your eyes, your long and smooth fingers. Shuttering awake from dreams that had once been true. I’m certain my face never sways upon your mind. You fill your days with more curious subjects. But seconds after the last hit finally carries me to high And I’m consumed with how much your distance affects. I let the edges of memories tickle those days long gone Back to life, and watch the movie replay on my screen. Though moral fortitude mentions that this is wrong I can’t help but smile at the people I am seeing. At their spontaneity in a meticulously laid out plan They privately refuse to conform and share their will. Before they return to their lives as another woman and man Back to friendships, love, all that they have built. I may never again have that same chance as you do To, even for a moment, slip away and be her again. But I will always have these memories to skim through Until, down through the smoke, I descend.
