No Poem As Lovely
”I think that I shall never see A poem as lovely as a tree. Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree." Joyce Kilmer I think it’s as Joyce Kilmer wrote on trees so lovely made, expounding through their seasoned lives of change, except in fall. In summer their full beauty bursts forth in lush abound. Yet it’s in their dying colors that poet souls are thrilled. Quickly my head turns to look at yellow, red, brown hues, a sunlit hillside palette. But cautiously I drive. Oh, to be a passenger with eyes free to absorb, the splendor of the trees in fall, that die in Godly grace. Showering bands of leaves descend in paths to lead me on. No longer must I turn away from safety just to see. Filling my mind with vain desire to poetry nature’s trees, I understand as Kilmer did. No poem fairer than these. 10/17/2022 Fall Flavors' Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Regina McIntosh Theme: Taking a fall drive
