Innocence Betrayed
INNOCENCE, BETRAYED A child, broken into fragments, with weeping love, Scattered in the wake of destructive force - I question you in the justice court For your eternal silence, which should scream Its rage at cruelty of sudden night, But all I find is an unreasonable void, Swallowing any substance of faith And spitting it out in front of grief. I walk away from unhoped-for dreams, No longer wrestling with what once mattered. A restless journey I take Without end, sorrowful for lost Understanding I cannot keep Nor wish to in my fragile heart. I am a child within the adult, crushed By circumstance, past still clinging To my bleeding flesh, yet I am an adult, Whose childhood is over, buried In a long-forgotten graveyard. I live myself, firm of purpose, Not flinching from what I know I must determine as my destiny, And in the finality of all things, I will find my own love.
