She Did
She came to you for days, for years And uttered words that echoed truth - Words that but fell off your ears That longed instead for news that soothed And comforted your hearts to stay Forever chained in idle days. She came to you and said, “Look up! For our redemption draweth nigh” She spoke of wrath that filled the cup That He did drink – that He did die For us to live with Him again And yet your ears, from this, refrained. She pointed to the turning skies And cried that you may realize The burden of the coming times That someone may escape these ties And be with Him forevermore But your ears, her words, ignored. She ached and begged for just an ear To turn and listen, to beware That His day will quick appear, as Thieves do catch you unaware And so her every breath, she spoke Alas, but truth was to you, cloaked. And so you dealt to her your scoffs But she, her message never ceased. In unbelief, you sent her off And thought she would return at least But then was she gone suddenly Though now you search her hastily She answered to a voice that called And now remains by Him, enthralled Your time to listen came and went But you did not your hearts repent So though you search, is she not found - Her soul is to her bridegroom, bound!
