Climbing Through
I’d drink the same iced coffee from that cute cafe Even if it didn’t come freshly served the last time I’d eat the same Pizza capricciosa from my favourite restaurant Even if it came with almost no olives and mushrooms the last time I’d still hang out with my best gang of three that owns my heart Even if they stood me up last time I’d still go for that black silk dress with gothic makeup Even if that pastel-coloured attire got me a dozen compliments the last time I’d still feed my infatuation over rationality Even if it risked my serenity the last time I’d still listen to my heart through every impulse Even if my mind serves every evidence against it And why wouldn’t I make these choices? Why shouldn’t I take these chances? There’s only so much I can do to satisfy my soul today Even if it ends up being a complete mess tomorrow Either way, the consequences will be my greatest teachers Those repetitive mistakes might hinder my progress Or they might shape a new mindset for my future self One thing’s certain; the learning won’t freeze I’ll call every experience a win in the long run Even if it feels like my biggest failure to date Every event will give me something to ponder upon And I would trade it for an idle mind and naivety any day Eventually, there will come a day when I look back and say I’m through it all; every doubt, trouble, and regret is behind me I’m standing tall with my spirits sky-high; incredibly proud of myself I’m on the other side of my past miseries I didn’t drown or let my fiascos take me down; I kept going Even when I hit a dead end Climbing through it showed me I was only growing
