An American Thought - Title By Steve Miller
Do you know why we celebrate Memorial Day, Or are you just glad to have the day off work or school? Do you think of the soldiers that have passed away To give you the freedom to drink a beer and play pool? Memorial Day is a day to remember, A day set aside to think of our country’s past. It’s a day for us to think about the soldiers That have given their lives so that our freedom will last. There are so many wars in which our country has fought. In which millions of lives have been tragically lost. They believed in a freedom that so many have sought. Let’s not forget that your every-day life comes at a cost. We need to remind our children that freedom isn’t free. They need to know that their lives are protected by others. Remembering those that have died is how it should be. After all, in a way, they’re all our sisters and brothers. So, this year look at your life in a different way. Take a moment to think of all the fallen heroes. Visit a soldier’s grave on this Memorial Day And thank them for the life that they unselfishly chose.
