A Broken Heart
Laughter rings out, At the idiocy shared, Palms slap together, As jokes only us understand, Bring about mirth, Secret glances shared, As knowing smiles grow on our faces, Thoughts expressed, As if minds were one, Mannerisms from the other, Adopted without knowing, Compromises made, With no ill will toward the other, The trust that grew, None could question, The bond shared, Presumably strong, Shattered, As tears flow unrelenting, Paranoia in ones' mind, Confirmed as truth, Blood drips from my back, Relief at the revelation, As a courageous smile stays on my face, Though tears still flow, I rack my brain, But the reason why, eludes me, As I mull on it, In the eye of my hurricane, The signs were there, Slight though they were, They were there, A calm envelopes me, I am okay, Desperately as she tries to explain, Anger holds grip, Silently thankful, The tears have stopped, My chest, Once heavy, lightens, As words flow to express my rage, Disappointment, at those I see, Is all there is, Time apart a growing crave, With the violation of trust, Overwhelming, Alone, Sobs wracked my body, Desolate of feeling, To flee, Was all I could do, To seek comfort from the pain, But what still remained, Were questions, On what would be, With bonds frayed and torn.
