Imer Rhymer - 4
I write a little ‘touchy-feelie’ poetry now and then in keeping with ‘expectancies’ on which the genre’s based, But far more often whip up works for which the timid fan - along with so called - ‘academia’ - often has no taste. Adhering to ‘convention’, for an author, is a nightmare...stifling creativity - especially for the bard - And I refuse to fall in line with those who’ve fled the fold of we who pen our work in metered rhyme because - it’s hard! If and when you get to where you’ve fin’ly grasped the concept...understand explicitly what millions truly favor... Blend the right ingredients for a ‘metered-rhyme desert’- then find somebody qualified to scrutinize its flavor! Someone who’s been writing ‘verse’ religiously for years. Someone like myself - which anymore is tough to find - Who’s chosen, unrelentingly, to stoke the dying fires in those who feel deprived of what they claim’s their - ‘favorite kind’. Many don’t - or won’t - agree with what my countless queries verify consistently, year by year by year, And - while the finest prose is much preferred to novice verse...it’s seldom what the patrons that I quiz are keen to hear. I’m praying that the day will come when someone builds a refuge set aside exclusively for works of - ‘metered rhyme’, And does so very soon because the genre’s all but dead...and, while I’m here to do my part...I’m running out of time! My 4 Audio-CDs - @ 4 1/2 hours each, are available on my author's site = writerofbooks.com
