Stars
I’ve said the words a hundred times And thought the thoughts a thousand more But on those nights with crisp, clear skies I know a truth in my own core. When I gaze at stars afar Twinkling bright immersed in dark, Every flicker heaven’s art – Then my eyes to truth embark. The truth my eyes to me reveal Is that our hope to leave this earth And dwell in peace is ever real And ever true, foretold from birth. So every twinkle that I see Reminds me of a land unseen. As to our eyes such brilliance be Reduced to such mere specks to see, Though every star, beheld up close In grandeur bright, would blind our eyes - Reduced to sight, I do suppose Is all the splendor there that lies. So let the stars their brightness show, Adorn the night to calm our souls That every sparkle may bestow Reminders of our lasting hope.
