The Damage
Would I have done the things I've done If somehow the knowledge Had been presented to me in the past About the future Was the risk of a broken heart Worth all the faith and trust That I wanted to give you So we could be happy I stare at the rubble Of what used to to be my heart Memories flood me Of how strong the foundation was with you We built it together Took pride in our happiness Did we take it for granted? Or did fate set the demolition switch? Love was supposed to be there I was certain But it left you suddenly And the first switch blew Every tear I shed Set off dynamite to our fortress And I watched it crumble While you looked away I am standing here now As the remains slowly get cleaned up He's helping me clear the damage And rebuild the shattered heart in my soul. The sun shines And the dust clears I see you smiling for me And i'll smile back at you. Things can always get better. 08-09-2002
