Crashing Waves
Take off your shoes and walk with me, Feel the sand beneath your toes, Embrace the sea. Freezing cold water wisp’s across my face as I stand and watch, These waves remind me of day’s gone past, days when I could stand and be, Not be me in physical sense but more the anchor of my life, Where peace filled my soul, And waves were high, In astonishment I’d watch as they crashed against the rocks, How they resembled my life, The way they trickle back into the ocean and once more form a whole. An angry vast… At what I don’t know but like myself angry at sense that doesn’t make sense, Some things man was not meant to know, And I wish not to know but only to feel the pain it bares, Thrust inside my conscious and scoured throughout my body, A release of anger, To once more find myself. I sit within the reach of the tide as it slowly rises above my knees, I sit and wait, I wait not for consumption but redemption and forgiveness, A forgiveness not found by any God or reached by self assessment but the kind that, Only comes from a life with feeling beyond any comprehension, For to say the waters of life hold feeling would be to say that pain itself has no meaning. The waters rise and the waves crash overhead, I wait not afraid for that, that gives life, Would not so willingly take life without permission to do so first, I give it none, The cold has reached my soul and frozen my heart, I feel normal again for I am myself. I stand now and walk back across the hot sand feeling every grain of life between my feet, The tide is in now and the waves once more crash unto the rocks like my life it’s very self, And just as I have like the sea crashed into “The Rocks” of my life, Once more like the sea, My soul has trickled back unto me and once again…. I am whole.
