If I could just let it free Just for a second To let loose the ropes and chains that bound The ball and chain on my feet, the hangman's noose that I have tightened The recluse; The young lady who cannot take the pain anymore Who is she to anyone? The mere shadow on the wall The walking dead, as the tears that fall Who are you angry at? No one but you No one to blame but yourself Y O U R S E L F Take off your chain Discard the rope It is not needed and indeed no one cares so just be free! Who are they to judge what has been created? You cannot change the eye that looks back in the mirror The eye that has been found fraudulent The smile that is temporal and weak Why? Someone has noticed, you see Someone has cared and seen the facade that masks the anger, Angst Internal warfare that rips at the tender flesh of your insides So now you must change, just be free If you cannot be yourself, then who or what are you living as? Someone you do not recognise when you look at your reflection Deep down, you know, you know, you know too well That is not you No one wants to be you So you be you and no one else No one sees what you see, smells, tastes, thinks, behaves, responds or moves how you move, You are tired Draggin' that ball behind your heel, The chain that noisily clangs as you pull yourself through your torment, it is blistering your skin Such a mistake You are living as if you are a mistake Lift your eyes The horizon awaits you New days New hopes and goals, the fantasy from childhood That young girl is still there waiting patiently Sitting obediently in the corner, hands clasped around her small knees She will never leave but is quietly waiting for the first move, Your first move Do not wait any longer It is well Be free Like the letters on this page F R E E F R E E
