She Was Once Everything
How can I touch her? For I am not there How can I show her Just how much I care? How can I heal The wounds that I inflict The heart I have destroyed With my selfish mind? To her, I cannot speak To her. I am the enemy To me? She was my faith To me? She was once everything Now, alone, we stand For pastures new, we head Without her guiding hand New ground we both now tread The reasons? I’m not sure But leaving was my way Just wanted something more Finding my own way We thought we’d last eternal The two of us entwined Maybe that’s the reason I left her far behind She thinks that I am evil Selfish through and through I don’t understand it But hope one day I do For now, I’ll stay away To let my lost love grieve And let my own heart cry Until the day that I know why
