Stars and Strife - Part 2
It was almost the stroke of midnight, when the end of him did come She heard the breeze blow tenderly, whispering baby it is done. Her eye's full of anger, full of pain and tormented grief Still the breeze was whispering, Baby look for me She walked to-wards the window, as she looked up hoping he was near Written in the stars, to her surprise the words were spelt out clear Baby I'm in heaven, with the Angels and the saints Forgiveness my Father gave me, that my spirit shall not be faint Live for me my Angel, live life as if with me Lay the flowers of our love affair upon my grave beneath our tree She fell upon the floor, as her knee's buckled with the pain How do I carry on? How here do I remain? Her vision became blurry, as her tears became a mask Beside the bed she fumbled for the bottle and the glass God I beg thee answer, is there anyway to send him back? Throwing the empty bottle to the wall it hit and smashed She fell asleep holding to her pillow, to her it felt like him Until the break of morning light, as sunlight shone straight in The postman brought a letter, the handwriting well she knew Inside he'd wrote the message, I'll always be with you C'mon baby you know better, we don't take on pain like this Wipe dry those eye's so hurting and give me one more kiss She closed her eye's to see him, as his face appeared so bright She could not go on without him, committed suicide that night Had she only waited, the phone call came too late Clemency was granted, he had passed over his certain fate His Innocence was proven, he was coming home Excited from his prison cell, he said, baby pick up the phone The call was never answered, her life had slipped away Upon the floor her body icy cold lay in wait If only she'd been stronger, If his promise she had kept To keep him ever with her, to never once forget Maybe they'd of made it, in this world and to the next Instead he lives with loneliness, sadness and regrets.
