You - I Wonder
You wonder Why can’t we get along? Many reasons, but above all We’re too different Separate, Far apart from How a relationship Should be Forced together Fighting to Make it last You wonder Why haven’t I called? I took The high road Refusing to bow down To your level, To become something I’m not To create a distance That was Much needed You wonder Why the silence? Because sometimes Silence speaks more Than words It’s eerie how loud Silence could be No words could express Just how much Our relationship had to Come to An end I wonder How come you didn’t see The signs, The shifting of eyes, The dreaded moments Spent in the same room, Waiting to hear a simple “Hey,” A sign of acknowledge, Something to show claim To your so-called Friendship I wonder How did you not notice The issues beforehand, Taking responsibility For things In the past Blaming others, Holding grudges Still, claiming friendship I wonder How I never spoke up In the beginning Bottling it up inside To save face Maybe this would’ve saved us The time spent Wondering… © 2021
